This is a guest post by our summer intern, Cecile Stone.
Hello! My name is Cecile Stone, and I recently started as the intern here at MY Wealth Planners. I was born in Syracuse, NY, however, I moved to Broomfield, CO in 2009 and have been here ever since. I went to high school locally and am now a rising Senior at CU Boulder studying Marketing and Finance at the Leeds School of Business.
I chose to study Finance because of my interest in the analytical and technical side of business. Having a heavy background in STEM subjects in high school, I wanted to make sure my education had some form of math or science, and I found that Finance created a nice balance for me when combined with my Marketing courses. When starting my Finance courses, I realized that I had a knack for the skills used in the beginning stages of learning about the fundamentals of Finance. Noticing this, I reached out to my first Finance professor and was able to begin as a Teacher’s Assistant for a 2000-level Finance course at Leeds. This opportunity only grew my passion for the industry and allowed me to dive deeper into working with financial algorithms and the different ways in which Finance can be taught and learned. I hadn’t originally seen financial planning in my future, but I realized throughout my experience with aiding this class that I enjoyed both learning and teaching about Finance aspects heavily prevalent in personal financial planning.
What drew me to financial planning – and to this internship – was the opportunity to connect with people on a meaningful level. I enjoy learning and connecting with people, and so far, have loved being able to be a part of someone’s financial journey. Thus far, this internship has confirmed that financial planning offers a great blend of working with people and numbers, two areas in which I am highly passionate about. I also loved MY Wealth Planner’s commitment to the team, and the maintained goal of growth, education, and engagement both in and outside of the office. Throughout the summer, I am aiming to learn more not only about our existing clients but am excited to make new connections and dive deeper into how the optimized portfolios we create are created and shared within the communities we serve. I am so excited to see the ins and outs of MY Wealth Planners and to have the opportunity to be mentored by a group of highly driven and passionate individuals.
