Hello! My name is Samantha Rauch and I am from a small mountain town called Basalt, Colorado, just outside of Aspen, Colorado. My family and I have lived in Basalt my entire life. I attended Basalt High School where my graduating class was a mere 63 people. Some things I really enjoy doing outside of school include working with children, specifically children with special needs, as well as spending time with friends and family.

I am currently a senior at the University of Colorado Boulder pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Finance with an emphasis in Personal Financial Planning and a Certificate in Global Business. The reasoning behind choosing my specific major is that I enjoy the challenges that the world of Finance poses, but also really enjoy interacting and connecting with all different types of people. After switching my major a few times I really felt as though Personal Financial Planning encompassed everything I was looking for as well as really meeting my specific skill set. With regards to my Certificate in Global Business, I believe that understanding how business works on a global scale is extremely beneficial in this day and age. After studying abroad in Madrid, Spain for five months I really gained a perspective of how different business can be in different parts of the world and how important it is to understand that. As a financial planner I feel like you really get to experience specific aspects such as being able to do quantitative work as well as making those interpersonal connections that I search for in a career.

The intern position at MY Wealth Planners really struck me as the right fit because the main goal there is to teach and mentor the current intern to the best of their ability while also giving them hands on training in the workplace. Another thing that really drove my decision to be an intern at MY Wealth Planners was the ongoing encouragement and reassurance that I am free to ask as many questions as it takes to really conceptualize what is going on without worrying about negative backlash for not quite understanding everything right away. This way I am able to learn as much as I possibly can while I have the convenience to do so. On top of that I get the opportunity to meet and connect with people in the same field, get exposure to the day to day life of a financial planner, and gain access to resources and tools that I would not normally have when starting my career. I hope to grasp a real understanding of what it is like to be a financial planner, the duties you must fulfill, and the responsibilities you take on. Overall, I would like to gain enough knowledge about the tools, programs, and practices of financial planning so I am able to start my journey towards being the best I can be in my field of work. With all my newfound knowledge I hope to gain the confidence I need to really succeed.

I’m looking forward to the rest of the internship this summer, and I hope if you’re a client or local that we get a chance to meet!
